Strong through more than 80 years of history.

In a cozy Texas town still climbing out of the Great Depression, a few local business leaders saw their community’s need for a different kind of bank. They founded Security State Bank in 1941 in the old Buckhorn Saloon on Fredericksburg's historical Main Street.

We’ve stayed strong through a world war, multiple recessions and a pandemic, growing steadily to $2.2 billion in assets and 18 branches, from hill country to big city.

We still have the same values, the same name (though we added “& Trust” in 1962), and the same Buckhorn Saloon building, celebrated by the white tailed deer in our logo. (His name is Buck.)

Known for our friendly people who focus on service, not on sales, we’re frequently awarded “best bank,” “best teller,” and more by a variety of local publications. We’re proud to be small enough to know you by name and large enough to serve all your banking needs.
