We hope you will read further to learn about the safe use of ATM facilities as well.

Our goal is to make your online banking experience not only convenient but one that is safe and secure. Security begins with our multi-factor authentication process when you sign on to our Online Banking and Bill Pay service. Several steps take place to confirm that it is you and not someone who may have stolen your identity.
The first step in the login authentication process is your access ID and pass code. Another security measure we employ is security verification questions. Be sure you select questions to which only you know the answers. You will find that any time you want to utilize the Payments tab on your account you will be prompted to answer one of your security questions.
Lastly, we look for anything that might be abnormal on the back-end of the transaction. We may call you if something out of the ordinary is detected, such as logins from a foreign country or large payments that you don’t normally make.
Online and mobile banking has become increasingly more secure with new controls and regulations implemented by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC). Security State Bank & Trust is quick to implement procedures that address regulatory changes and updates that make our online suite of products secure from unauthorized use.
The term “phishing”, as in fishing for confidential information, refers to a type of fraud that involves questionable emails. Here is how it works:
You receive an email which appears to be from someone you trust such as your bank, a government agency or other reputable entity. Typically the message directs you to “verify or update” your account information and often the tone of the message is “URGENT”. Phishing emails usually contain links that direct you to websites that contain the names and logos of companies or agencies that look legitimate. It is the goal of the scammer to convince you to provide your Social Security number, bank account numbers or other confidential information.
Stop: Resist the urge to immediately respond to a suspicious email even if it seems to be urgent.
Question: Read the email several times and ask yourself why the information is being requested. Your bank or credit card company already has all your information. Does this really make sense?
Call: Telephone the entity represented in the email directly. However, be sure to use a phone number that you know to be legitimate.
